I’ve been away for a few weeks taking a family holiday. This blog gives me a reason to crop and tweak my favorite picture from the trip. Google analytics tells me that my posts get more clicks if they include a picture… This one ought to increase the traffic.

Bottom line is that the interviewer has the leverage and the best you can do is try to negotiate to a position where you can excel or demonstrate your capabilities.

Also read this blog post that has some wonderful points about software development. Not a direct tie in to software quizzes and interviewing, but key points on what it means to be a senior software engineer.

Get better by doing

Quite a few blog posts point out the obvious: “Do something to get better at it.” It doesn’t matter what it is, but do it. The challenge, is finding something to do, a side project, that can resonate and build passion while being limited to the hours available in an evening or weekend.

I can say that nothing in the first link jumped at me… but the second list looks a bit more promising. A few of these I’ve already done and a few look interesting.

IOT

I think I’ll work more on my home IOT project. I’ve constantly run into a problem with storing tons of data. Gee, there should be a way to handle that. Let’s go find out what that is. More to come in later posts.
